On February 26, Li Xinhua, Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager of CNBM, attended the report of regional centers at CNBM’s headquarters and met with outstanding foreign employees of CNBM in 2023.

Since the start of overseas expansion at the end of the 20 th  century, CNBM has undertaken more than 240 projects in more than 50 countries and regions, which were worth more than RMB83 billion in contracts. and achieved an internationalization index of over 70%. At present, CNBM has established 13 localized companies in overseas countries to improve local operations and develop competitive advantages.

At the meeting, Li Xinhua was informed of the operating status of seven localized subsidiaries in countries such as Nigeria and Algeria in 2023, events in their countries and their development plans in 2024. In 2023, the localized companies of CNBM outperformed the annual target with an operating income of RMB4.715 billion.

In his speech, Li Xinhua fully recognized the achievements of SINOMA International and CBMI over recent years of overseas development. He pointed out that, through the four-step internationalization strategy of “going global, steady development, branding, and the pursuit of excellence,” CBMI has established a full-fledged EPC general contracting system and a standardized, procedural, and modular project management model from overseas market development to the operation of EPC projects, and from regional management to localized operations. It has also established a team that adapts to overseas market environments and project operation, built up brand reputation in the international market, played a pioneering role in the implementation of the "going global" strategy and the EPC general contracting model, and taken the lead in expanding its cement business into overseas markets.

Li Xinhua proposed three requirements for internationalization in the future. The first is to broaden horizon, expand the international influence of the brand, and invigorate overseas development. Concrete efforts include vigorously promoting diversified development, accelerate the export of technologies, products, services and standards, and steadily improving market competitiveness and brand influence in overseas countries. The second is to ride the wave of the digital age, integrate the concepts of green and low-carbon development into the life cycle of the company, endeavor to create a “high-end, intelligent, and green” system, and promote structural modification, green and low-carbon transformation, and digital manufacturing across the industry. The third is to improve the management and control system to ensure legal and compliant operations and effectively prevent overseas business risks. Concrete measures include strengthening legal efforts in overseas operations, manage overseas risks as medium- and long-term risks, enhance risk identification and investigation, maintain consistent and unified practices in management from top to bottom, and improve overseas ESG compliance.

14 outstanding foreign employees of CBMI visited the “Smart Use of Resources” Culture and Art Space and the business exhibition hall at CNBM’s headquarters. Through the introduction of staff members, they not only acquired a better understanding of CNBM’s diverse business sectors, but also marveled at the manufacturing process of materials and applauded the corporate culture.

During the meeting, Li Xinhua took turns to shake hands with 14 outstanding foreign employees and expressed his hearty welcome to them who came from 12 countries in four continents with different languages and culture background but shared a common mission and goal. He also congratulated them on being elected as outstanding employees of 2023. After that, he stated that CNBM has been listed in the Fortune Global 500 for 15 consecutive years, with seven business lines topping their respective fields in the world, especially the business line of technical equipment and services for cement sector to which they contributed a lot.

Li Xinhua emphasized that CNBM aspires to become a great company, and internationalization is one of the important indicators to realizing this aspiration. He hoped that foreign employees would contribute to CNBM, their own countries and their hometowns based on CNBM’s three principles of win-win cooperation: contributing to the local economy, cooperating with local companies, and serving local residents. He hoped that they would make this trip to China an indelible memory in their life, share their experience in China with their colleagues and families after returning home, and do their best to disseminate the Chinese culture.
