The World Economic Forum (WEF) was established in 1971, and also known as the "Davos Forum" as it convened its first meeting in Davos, Switzerland. Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, it is an independent international organization committed to exploring and discussing global economic issues and promoting international economic cooperation. With the subsequent expansion of influence and the invitation of higher-level participants, it has been recognized as the "highest-level unofficial international economic forum" and one of the most important unofficial gatherings for government dignitaries, businessmen, and leaders of civil and social groups to discuss global economic issues.
